The Senior Auto Underwriter works closely with the Auto Underwriting Team Leader to plan and execute company directives and goals. The incumbent will assist in handling complex new business, prepare large loss claims reports, and review claims breach cases in accordance with the Company’s strategic goals. They will assist the Auto Team Leader with various tasks and duties as needed. They act as a mentor to junior auto underwriters and are familiar with current departmental procedures.
CIP designation or actively pursuing a CIP designation with completed courses or equivalent
Level 2 General Insurance license is strongly preferred
Availability and flexibility to support the auto underwriting business hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30 am-5:30 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am-4:00 pm)
Strong attention to detail and results-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized, requiring minimal supervision in the completion of duties
Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure
Basic knowledge of auto insurance in BC and underwriting fundamentals
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
Proactive, involved and collaborative in the workplace
Act as a positive role model within the department and organization
